Centering Practice: Finding Stillness Amidst the Turbulence of Life In-Person
Explore a simple approach to cultivating inner calm in community during this 60-minute session. Included will be a brief introduction to centering practice and its roots in ancient contemplative traditions, followed by a guided body scan and a period of silence, putting to work the centering practices being introduced.
Participants will be invited to open their hearts to what may be moving in and around them, with an eye towards developing not only stillness, but receptiveness. There will be time for optional journaling and reflection through group sharing (although no sharing is required).
If you have had trouble with meditation in the past, the group setting is a great way to learn from others and discover your challenges with sitting may not be as unique to you as you imagined. At the conclusion of the session you will have practical tools for finding stillness in everyday life. No prior experience is needed.
NOTE: The session is self-contained, with slight adjustments made based on particiapnts' experience levels and open to those who may have already taken this workshop or a similar one.
